If you would like to find out more about the Dissenters' Burial Ground, there are several avenues to explore.
THE OFFICIAL BOOK
Your first port of call should be "The Dissenters' Burial Ground Monument Survey", our 510-page book which contains a detailed history of the site, transcriptions and photographs of all 92 surviving monuments, biographies of all the persons listed upon the headstones, and a full transcription of the burial registers. The book can be ordered directly from Lulu.com. Just click on the logo below to order a copy (paperback and hardback available).
We have written a pretty detailed Wikipedia page which can be found by clicking on the logo:
FACEBOOK / TWITTER
We regularly post new information on Facebook and Twitter, including details of any new discoveries on site and the dates of Open Days and tours. You can also find lots of photographs on these sites. You do not have to join Facebook or Twitter. Just click on the images to visit the pages:
In November 1991 the United Reformed Church in Falmouth kindly deposited the original church records with the Cornwall Record Office (Accession No.4222), where today they can be found under reference X850. These important documents contain information on the history of the Dissenting congregations of Falmouth and Penryn, their members lists, minutes and registers of baptisms, marriages and burials.
In terms of burial information, the following volumes should be viewed at the CRO:
Falmouth X850/1 1808 - 1853
Falmouth X850/2 1853 - 1879 / 1889 / 1925 - 1928
Falmouth X850/3 1894 - 1907
Penryn X850/25 1808 - 1858
Penryn X850/26 1866 - 1901
Written in 2010 by Catherine Parkes of Cornwall Council's Historic Environment Service, this detailed analysis of the Jewish and Dissenters' cemeteries first brought the site to our attention. Well worth a read.
The report can be downloaded by clicking on the cover to the right. You will be taken to a terms and conditions page. Click that you accept the terms (to do with copyright) and the report will then open.

SCHEDULED MONUMENT AT RISK
Although we have improved the survival prospects for the site, it is still considered to be at risk and in need of considerable intervention. Click the logo for more info.
We have transcribed the burial registers in their entirety. Please see the BURIALS page of this website for methods of viewing these records. You can also email us to find out if a certain person you are looking for is buried on site.
Not all of the names contained in the burial registers have a headstone, as there are several hundred unmarked graves at Ponsharden. However, we have transcribed the inscriptions on all surviving monuments and will be able to tell you whether the person you are searching for has a memorial at the burial ground today.
Please see the contacts page for methods of getting in touch.
